It is indeed a privilege to be associated with a great artist of Bengal, Shri Prokash Karmakar.

We started this project in 2006 at a time when the artist was physically depleted, devoid of energy.

The project was to get Prokash-da's health on track through a basic discipline and lifestyle changes. We travelled with him to various destinations. The objective was to document the artist's reactions on canvas to the various surrounding visual stimuli - the deserts of JODHPUR,the hills, valleys,mist & sunsets at Kodaikanal, the beaches of Digha, Puri, Konark, Chennai and Pondicherry, & the various visits by road to the interiors of Bengal, Joyrambati, Bishnupur & Mukutmonipur.

The other mutually agreed focus was for him to try and break further ground in his visual language and try to veer clear of his signature, recognisable, market demanded style.

We were amazed as went along our journey as to how a 76 year old artist could take up this challenge and start afresh in search of imagery & symbols .. What he has achieved and how successful he has been is for posterity to judge, nevertheless it has been an attempt worth pursuing further.

We exhibit a selection of his works here for you to view and enjoy.

We call this series "EXPERIMENTS" AND WE HOPE THAT THIS SPIRIT OF SEARCH AND EXPERIMENTATION PERMEATES THE SPIRIT OF ALL ARTISTS IN THE TIMES TO COME.

Our journey with Prokash da continues till we publish a significant book on the life and works of this great Artist.
